MKII - Winner of the 1966 "24 Hours of LeMans"
MKI - Winner of the 1968 & 1969 "24 Hours of
LeMans"
After 10 days of negotiations in 1963, Enzo Ferrari de
clined a deal from the Ford Motor Company to purchase "Ferrari". Henry Ford II was furious. Ford's response was to develop a GT racecar to compete with the venerable Ferrari at the most important race in the world ... "24 Hours of LeMans".
Ford's revenge came on June 19, 1966. The Ford GT40 MKII's swept the field placing 1-2-3!!! With the help of Carroll Shelby, Ford accomplished what no one had done before: Win LeMans with an American Sports Car.
Since 1901, no other day has meant more to the Ford Motor Company! Only a handful of GT40 MKII's were built in 1966. Today, the value of an original is well into the millions!
Under license from Safir GT40 Spares Limited, this historic machine is available once again. Built using the original blue prints, over 90% of the Continuation GT40 will interchange with an original. Each is assigned a GT40P Chassis Number ... Just like in 1966.
